State Legislature
REPUBLICAN TRIFECTA There are 100 seats in the House (78% R) and 35 in the Senate (77% R). House members serve 2-year terms, can serve 12 consecutive years and return after a 4-year break. Senators have terms that are sometimes 2 and sometimes 4 years (one 2-year and two 4-year), can serve 12 consecutive years and return after a 4-year break. Elections occur in even years with all House seats and approximately 1/2 of the Senate seats up every 2 years.
State Legislative Term
February 14, 2022 - March 15, 2022. Session limited to 60 days in odd years and 30 in even.
State Elected Officials
The Governor (R), SOS (R) and the AG (R) are elected for 4-year terms in midterm elections, limited to 2 terms. The next election is in 2022.
State Supreme Court
There are 7 judges, elected in non-partisan elections for 8-year terms after which they are required to run for re-election. All current 7 judges were elected. In the event of a vacancy, an interim judge is selected by the governor, to serve until the next general election taking place 4 or more months after the vacancy occurred.
US Representatives & Senators
Senate seats (R) are up in 2022 and 2026. House seats (4R) are up in even years.

Congressional district lines are drawn by the General Assembly. The governor may veto. State legislative district lines are drawn by a political commission comprised of the governor, SOS and attorney general. There are 4 congressional districts, 35 state senate districts and 100 state house districts.
