State Legislature
DIVIDED - REPUBLICAN LEGISLATURE There are 99 seats in the State Assembly (62% R) and 33 seats in the Senate (64% R). House members serve 2-year terms and Senate members serve 4-year terms with no term limits. Elections occur in even years with all House and 1/2 of the Senate seats up every 2 years.
State Legislative Term
January 18, 2022 - May 18, 2022. No session limit.
State Elected Officials
The Governor (D), SOS (D) and AG (D) are elected for 4-year terms in midterm elections with no term limits. The next election is in 2022.
State Supreme Court
There are 7 judges, elected in nonpartisan elections for 10-year terms and must run for re-election when their terms expire. Only 1 seat may be elected in any year and there must be more than 2 candidates for each seat in order to have a primary. Of the 7 current judges, 1 was originally appointed by a Republican governor. Vacancies are filled by appointment by the governor who may choose a committee for recommendations but is not bound by them.
US Representatives & Senators
Senate seat (R) up in 2022 and (R) in 2024. House seats (5R, 3D) are up in even years.

Both congressional and state legislative district lines are drawn by the state legislature. These lines are subject to veto by the governor. There are 8 congressional, 33 state senate and 99 state assembly districts. Each state senate district contains 3 state assembly districts.
